A wide range of supporters who attended the 2nd Water Stewardship Forum in June 2007 agreed that the next step should be to develop an Options Paper outline alternative ways to structure and operate a Water Stewardship scheme.
A list of Forum participants and summary of outcomes can be downloaded, along with a copy of NWC Chairman Ken Matthews’ keynote speech, and other speakers’ notes.
The 3rd Water Stewardship Forum (WSF3) was held in Melbourne during October 2008. It brought together people from across the spectrum of interest in water stewardship, including water authorities, major commercial water users, financiers, retailers, government, environmental and social NGOs, traditional landowners, technical experts and more.
At WSF3 participants review major issues and obstacles to developing a water stewardship system. Specifically, the forum addressed development of stakeholder endorsed water stewardship standards applicable to agricultural, industrial, commercial and institutional water users; how the system will deliver market leverage for responsible water users; what are appropriate governance arrangements; and how verification systems will be operated.
Now that the initiative is moving into the piloting phase future stakeholder engagements will mainly occur as part of industry or sector specific consultancies. If you would like to become a involved in these programs please register your details and the nature of your interest on the
